These are fawn-coloured 100% alpaca yarns hand-spun from our alpaca fleeces. All yarns are individual small batches. Colours may vary between batches even for the same animal. Fibre has been hand washed and carded without the use of harsh chemicals. So our yarn may still contain a small amount of vegetable matter. The colour is the natural colour of the alpaca fibre,
Tin Dragon carded alpaca fibre products are selected from our own alpaca fleeces (Australian Fibre Collective licensee: 0018). So you can be assured that the fibre was grown and produced sustainability and ethically on our farm in North East Tasmania.
The fawn lightly-washed and carded slivers have been hand-spun to create a unique 100% alpaca yarn. Suitable for knitting, weaving, and crochet projects. Particularly suit those with sensitive skin or baby knits. Of course each skein is handmade--so they can be considered one of a kind, 2 ply (two single spun yarns have been plied back together for extra strength and stability). Each yarn has an average guage of 12 wraps-per-inch (WPI) and weigh over 100g.
Fawn skein #1 weighs 160g and is 270m length (AUD $64), Fawn skein #2 is 180 g and 288m length (AUD $72)
As part of our care for the environment, we do not use harsh chemicals in the processing of our alpaca fibre.
